Dr. Steve Davis began his pursuit of education at Bay College then transferred to Northern Michigan University to complete a Bachelor of Science. He was then selected to be the first graduate student of the Upper Michigan Brain Tumor Center, a partnership between NMU and Marquette General Hospital. Following his first Master program, he was admitted to the University of Michigan School Of Dentistry, graduating in 2012. Upon graduation, Dr. Davis received the American Academy of Periodontology Dental Student award, American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology Award, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology Award, and the Ryan E. Turner Memorial Award as voted upon by the graduating dental class.
Following dental school, Dr. Davis chose to attend residency at U of M in the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine. Periodontics is a specialized field of dentistry that involves the supporting tissues which include soft (gum), hard (bone), and teeth. In addition to treating periodontal disease, Dr. Davis is trained in the placement of dental implants, soft tissue grafting, bone regeneration, occlusion, and oral pathology.
During residency, he was selected for the Graduate Periodontics Teaching Fellowship and the Benson Duff Endowed Scholarship for Excellence, both in 2014. Following completion of his certificate in periodontics and second Master of Science, Dr. Davis successfully attained board certification in periodontics from the State of Michigan, and the national board, achieving Diplomate status from the American Board of Periodontology in periodontics and dental implant surgery.
Dr. Davis volunteers with the Noquemanon Trail Network, as well as the Northern Michigan University Pre-Dental Advisory Board.
